Day 17 Happy Happy Saturday

I was going to write another chapter about how I got here but today was so fun I thought I’d share.

Beginning the day with some friendly time with the husband is definitely the way to go, I highly recommend it. Or some quality alone time, or both, you know, whatever your fancy.

The plan in my head was to go to a couple of garage sales, the thrift store and the farmers market.  I was going to find something funky that I could makeover and brag about and get some mandarins for the Mad.  Unfortunately the garage sales AND thrift store was a HUGE bust but I did score some delicious strawberries and the whole fam was happy.

An unusual call from the wife of one my husband’s friends threw a wrench in the plans for working in the yard today.  We were headed to Fairyland.  Woo hoo! (For the record I usually hate these sort of places.  Mad and I have had a couple of play dates at these kind of places and I was miserable and Mad didn’t care much for it either.)

Anyway, Wifey was bringing her two kids (4 and 2.5) and her brother, there was no way the Hubs was getting out of THIS one.

Short drive to the park and LONG walk from the overpriced parking spot led us to the cutest little park filled with storybook themed rides and slides and rabbit holes.  This being our first child, we aren’t pro’s at this sort of thing.  We didn’t bring a stroller and we didn’t bring enough food for all of us.

So YEAH!  I got to have my first corn dog in about 10 years.  Mad had part of a sandwich, a lot of fruit and tasted a few of Daddy’s fries.

Mad surprised  us both by running everywhere and only crashed once.  No fits, not too scared to try anything and did amazingly well for a kid who hadn’t had her nap.  The Wifey and her kids were fine too.  The older child, W, is a bit of a pain, a little too hyper and WAY too chatty but as long as I was distracted with my own kid, he didn’t bother me too much.

THANKFULLY the day was clearly getting long for Wifey and we were out of there in about 2 hours.

We came home, put the kid to bed for her nap and sat down to watch the Yankees spank the Rangers.  I mostly napped thru it and since it was recorded the Hubs skipped through it without too much cussing.  Shortly thereafter the kid was up and it was time to head back outside.

One of our favorite summer treats is my homemade guacamole and the warm day was just the right time for it.  We’ve tried giving it to Mad before and she’s pushed it away so we were surprised and a little disappointed that she not only liked it but was intent on pigging out.  She repeatedly shoved Dad’s chip away.  It was super funny.

While chowing down, she dropped a chip on the ground and decided to step on it.  Oh the satisfying crunch.  So she did it again and once again before we put the chips out of reach.

I’ll end this before y’all fall asleep.  Its Mad’s bath time and then we’re watching a movie.  Now if I could only have a beer.

How was your day?

Sounds like you had a lovely day! I'm cracking up over the little one taking to the Quac and acquiring a chip fetish like the rest of us. Happy Sunday :)
