Saturday projects, a before and after!

So spring has sprung out my way and nothing was gonna stop me from getting rid of the comforter I had grown to hate over the winter.

Sure it looks nice but it doesn’t say “SPRING!”  AND it has these decorative tassels around the edge that come off intermittently and get spread around our house.  So it was time to say goodbye.

I was so certain I took pics of the bed MADE before even starting this and now I can’t find them.  You’ll have to see the condition, the morning of this fun project.

You’ll note I’m not the only one unhappy with the current state of affairs!

Just in case you missed her pout!

Aah, sweet serenity.

But WAIT!  I’m not done.  This fabulous makeover wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t tackle the closet too.  It took a little longer.  Here is a peek into the mess.

To give you an idea of just how big a mess this was.  (And to give you a glimpse of spring, check outside the window!)

Okay, now the fun begins:

Starting w/ a clean slate.  And by the way, the closet didn’t look like this when we bought the house.  Hubs and I cleared it out, painted and installed the shelves a couple of years ago (before baby, of course.)

Now for the payoff:

This took a couple of hours because I neurotically changed out all the hangers to match (sorry Hubs, your’s don’t anymore) and color coordinated, rainbow style, all my tops (thought I couldn’t get a good pic of this delight!)  AND I put away all the winter clothes and got all of my maternity wear out and into the wash.

I think there is room on that shelf for more shoes, don’t you think?

What does spring inspire you to do?

I really, really, need to do the same to my closet, though I'll have to keep a few cold-weather pieces handy.

And you've spring-ified your blog, too! Very pretty colors. I chose the same background for probably the same reason…it's clean!

What is it with women and shoes? I have two pair of sneakers, one with Velcro straps and one that are tie-ups, and a pair of loafers for casual dress. Women have shoes for morning, noon and night. Monday shoes, Tuesday shoes, etc. Then there is jewelry, makeup, hair coloring, hair spray, falsies and funny looking underwear that no one but hubs should see. I am so glad I am a man. But I am glad you got your closet cleaned out. It does look nice.

I love before and after pictures. That looks great. I have been wanting to clean out our closet for months. I hate clutter. Now I have been inspired to get it done.

I should probably clarify I did this LAST Saturday. You'll see what I did THIS weekend.

LB@30: This hissy fit was inspired by nothing a bunch of rehab/decorating blogs. I'm gonna have to feature of few of them one of these days.

You know who: she was particularly pissed that I was more interested in my project than in turning on the T.V.

Steph, that would require a babysitter and cook for the Hubs and Mad. Hell, I'd pay airfare to get out of town these days!

B-O-G Its been a work in progress and I hope I'm done playing with this thing for a while.

Coffeypot: What can I say? We like variety!

Chaka: be sure the hubs and kids agree to stay out of your hair while you're at it or you won't finish!

Momma: Thanks! Nesting? Oh you should see me nest. You just wait.
