Who knew?

Will the Real Mad Woman please stand up… just saying the words you all have been shouting.

Where was i? Oh, right, who knew?

I did, of course.  I’m speaking about an award that was presented this week.  How very apropos, I must say. My dear friend Paige at Slightly Off Balance has aptly discerned that I am worthy of the Stylish Blogger Award.

But wait, wait, wait. Before I get to the bling, Paige is also having me over for a play date today! Remember when I wrote about my theory about light vs. dark beer drinkers? If you don’t you can check it out here.  Well that inspired a conversation where I made some pretty serious accusations, I mean assessments which then led to Paige writing this piece of hilarity and then asking me over to share more of my extensive research. Go check it out, you’ll be glad you did!

Now back to my well deserved reward:

Isn’t it purty? It is possible that she googled Diane Van Furstenberg and found me.

I kid, I kid. The lady knows what she’s talking about…..or she knows who to buy off. Oh, I shouldn’t mention here that we’ve met? (No, there was no motorboating. But there was wine and red stilettos, oh yeah). When I first saw here, I thought, “Now that gal has got it together, we’ll be like oil and water.” And yet, once I made my signature inappropriate remark, I had her sucked in. She was mine.

So lets get down to the brass tacks, shall we?

This award does have a few strings attached. In accepting the Stylish Blogger Award, I am supposed to write seven things you might not know about me:

1. Paige isn’t the only one to find me and mine stylish.  HGTV contacted me last Friday and asked to feature my house on a show. Filming is tomorrow…will share more when there is more to share.

2. Before the great style reformation of 2009, my preferred dress of choice was yoga pants and flip flops. This was my work attire, complete with pony tail and the companion tote of running shoes and shorts for some lunch time exercise.

3. I used to be able to sing the Kansas state song, Home on the Range, in Latin. I muddle through it now but still can sing Twinkle Twinkle in this archaic language as well as most of the Catholic Mass. Cool, huh?

4. While I’d like to think I’m way too cool for school, I could go back today and never leave. On the to do list: finish my Masters in English. Get a second Masters in Exercise and Sports Science, a third in Psychology (that minor just enough to wet my appetite) and dabble in business, communications and tada: musical theater.

5. I wore spandex shorts to high school. And no, they weren’t for PE. I just liked them. I had a wide range of neon colors and matching t-shirts. Let us not forget the coordinating bandanas either worn in my hair or tied with a knot in the middle, at my neck.  Unfortunately I was 20 gummy bracelets and a pair of converse shoes short of being cool.

6. I’ve had braces 3 times. My 4 siblings and I put our dentist’s kids through college.

7. Red is my nail color of choice….any shade OPI has to offer. HOWEVER I rarely paint my finger nails. When I do I’m like amnesiac child “ooh looky, how pretty. ” Five minutes later “ooh looky, how pretty!”

This reward also requires me to pay it forward, so I must nominate six bloggers for this award. Settle down, I said six, it’s not like I can burden ALL of you with this glory. So here we go:

1. The 21st Century Mrs.  This gal grabbed me with her fear of bearing children and her 12 step making a bowl cereal. You’ll LOVE HER!

2. Certainly you all know the delightful Ms Julie Gardner I first found her on someone else’s blog making a comment that made me fall off my chair. She is the queen of pushing the inappropriate envelope, so you know she’s a gal after my own heart!

3. By the way did you notice my new banner? I know the remodel isn’t finished but I just couldn’t wait to share it with you. This artiste GETS ME! And she’s perverse (one of my most favorite qualities) so you will also enjoy her, she’s Sara at Mother’s Hideaway

4. Another lovely blogger I MUST share with you is the incredibly smart Jessica. She writes about her world travels and really gives you a feel for the people she meets. She also has this amazing and inspiring life list that will make you want to get off your ass and write your own.  Plus she gave this. Go check her out!

5. No list would be complete without including the talented running, organ playing phenom, John Batzer. You MUST follow him on Twitter to really get a sense of his humor, his love of his children and maybe, just maybe, get to know another side of him.

6. Last but certainly not least, is my blogsbian lover,Momma Kiss, a woman can say snot rocket without grossing you out, and can craft a word as clever as any Seussism. Her latest genius: haberdasheryhazardy.  Due to a very tight confidentiality agreement, I cannot share with you the context in which she used this word but I do have access to a picture of her butt!

Now go, read my words of wisdom over at Paige’s and then give my friends here some love.

“I wore spandex shorts to high school.”

Were these the precursor to jeggings?

My claim to stylish fame? I used to style my hair like Zack Morris. As proof, there’s a hole above the ozone layer at my old house.

I was a rower in high school and college. So I love spandex. It keeps you from getting sucked into your slide (this is a rower’s fear.) Also, I just got back from a run, so I’m wearing spandex RIGHT NOW.

If you’d like to revoke the stylish nom, I understand. But I’d like to propose that I’m all the more stylish for throwing caution to the wind.

    Also, thank you!

Congrats on HGTV and now you are never welcome in my home, unless you plan to help improve it! ;)

I had braces three times too and still wear retainers at night. So sexy…

Remember, the white coat is just a facade – I am totally off balance and mad about you!

Thanks for coming to play today!

You do get to be on HGTV??? I saw your tweet! How awesome!

I still might have to fight you for MommaKiss, though. I do love her so.

P.S. I did dance with my kids. And took video of their dancing- just couldn’t post it b/c I only post pics of my own kids online.
