Weekend Recap

Hello my lovelies!

How was your 4th?  Do we need to take a moment to count fingers and toes?  10 and 11, thank you.  I’m totally out of beer and could really use a glass or bottle of wine.  Oh, and does anyone have some inventive recipes for zucchini?  Let’s say I have a generous and burned out neighbor.

We spent the past couple of days tiling, of course.  I’m really thrilled with how it looks and still need to pick a grout color.  And while I dread the process, I’m very happy to report that I have the wrong color of paint.  The paint that I slapped up just to get paint up before we did the floorboards looked by baby poo to me.  Now that we have 1/2 the tile up I see that it is just too yellow.  But picking a new one will just have to wait until the MIL arrives b/c she has an eye for these things.  And her opinion is more than welcome.

But the day wasn’t all about work.  Adonis and I alternated brief breaks to play with the Mad and she was just an angel.  She surprised us with new words that we didn’t even teach or prompt her to say.  Apple was the biggest surprise (since we haven’t had one in months).

Another wonderful surprise was the invitation to join our neighbors for dinner.  They were barbequeing before heading out to watch the fireworks a few towns over.  So nice to not have to cook or clean and to have the opportunity to enjoy their company for more than five minutes.  And Mad was stellar, enjoying being the center of attention from time to time.  We are so very lucky to call our neighbors friends.  Thanks C and B!

So I apologize for the brief post.  There is still a lot to do before going back to work tomorrow and I’m anxious to get to it.  Here’s a peek at what we’ve got done so far:

Very impressive job, but hope you keep finding time for play, too.

It's going to be wonderful! I seem to remember you saying you love projects like this. And I suspect you do, even with all the hassles involved.

We extended our pineisle to the curb and added a few new bushes. Then spent the 4th on the lake with the grandkids. Great weekend.

We did our own tile work, too! It's hard but it's worth it.

I like the tile. I'm with you on the paint. If your MIL has an eye, definitely go for it. Around here, Hubby has a good eye. I put the ideas together and he gets to "help" make the final decision on color. He does all the designs, though.

Your tile looks great! I'm using the premixed stuff too and it's a nightmare to work with. Although, I've never worked with ANY grout before so what do I know. Good luck with your paint color! I really like Benjamin Moore's Sherwood Tan. It's a great tan without being peachy the way a lot of tans can come across. Check it out.
