Um, uh. Hm.
So I wrote this post in February about having a fat mouth, speaking before thinking, and general asshattery. I whined and moaned about saying yes to a house that I hadn’t even fully toured. There were ugly, hateful words hurled between me and Adonis. There were tears.
That was February. We moved in in March. The commute has been brutal…comparatively.
But guess what? I love my house.
Yeah. I know. I’m a fucking idiot.
My parents visited in April. There were a TON of landscaping demo done. There is still a ton of landscaping to do. I’m so happy.
In May we replaced our old aluminum windows. The new ones are very pretty.
In June we started a remodel of the family room. This is a room that can be seen from the living and dining rooms, from the kitchen and breakfast area. Its kinda a big deal. My initial request was to do something with the mirrored wet bar and the cottagey looking spindled railing between the breakfast room and family room. Sure, sure, there was a weird arch, some completely random/gratuitous columns, an ugly brick fireplace and NO LIGHTS!
But we had just done our windows so I was pretty sure Adonis was still shell shocked from the expense. I wasn’t gonna dream big.
Apparently Adonis was! (And our contractor is not only cheap but he favors MY taste… more to come.)
So while Adonis’ dream media room is being created we’re spending a lot of time closed up in our bedroom (to keep little hands and feet out of the dust and muck of the construction zone). And it ain’t bad… Our bedroom, a behemoth of a space, has room for surfing (Adonis) tents (Maddy) wobbling and wandering (the Dude) and even a comfortable little spot for some blogging.
We’re settling in. Maddy is a huge fan of the pool in our development. Sam is loving the slide in the park just a block away. There are trails for short walks, MILES of bike lanes and both easy and challenging running routes just out my front door.
Yeah, so I”m an asshole and a drama queen.
And yes, I’ve eaten crow with Adonis. This house isn’t THAT big.

So glad it’s working out! I was so sad for you when you were so unhappy with it!

I’m so glad you’re loving your house. Mostly because my little house could fit in your kitchen.
Did you get to keep a wee garden?

I like the layout in the pictures. It looks very roomy and comfortable. Wet Bar? Yeah, I’m on my way.

Ok – while I was purely on “your side” in the house drama, well, upon seeing it, you can say that I’m just a wee bit jealous of your house.
And that you’re happy that there’s more landscaping to do (one of the main reasons I wanted the house we live in is because it was on a decent-sized piece of land, with a fair bit of landscaping . . . but keeping up after it has not been fun)

So happy you’re feeling better about the decision. There’s fewer worse things than never feeling at home in your own house.

So that’s what we’re calling it these days, huh?
“Eating crow.”
